Great SK Mustard Festival, Aug. 25
If you’re in Regina, be sure to attend the Great Saskatchewan Mustard Festival from 11am to 4 pm, August 25, at the Willows on Wascana – tastings, music and more.

Eat, Drink and Celebrate Summer on the Prairies, Aug. 29
If you’re impatiently waiting for Top Chef Canada Dale Mackay to open his restaurant, Ayden Kitchen & Bar, you’ll be happy to hear that he’ll be serving up a four-course meal, paired with cocktails, at the Saskatoon Farmer’s Market on August 29.

Kaleidoscope Vegetable Gardens
I love the diversity of produce and the creative combinations (Salsa Verde Mix, Ratatouille Mix) offered by Kaleidoscope Vegetable Gardens. Plus amazingly sweet husk cherries.

Kaleidoscope is at the Saskatoon Farmers’ Market on Saturdays and Sundays. Be sure to stop by and check out their amazing collection of vegetables, many aren’t available anywhere else in Saskatoon.

La Plaine Trail
La Plaine Trail, Saskatoon Farmers’ Market, has some lovely vegetables. I’m particularly enjoying their lettuce, but everything is good.

Canadian Food Heroes
Valerie Lugonja (A Canadian Foodie) initiated a cross-Canada blog project profiling Canadian food. This month’s focus was on Canadian Food Heroes.

Kevin Kossowan, Edmonton, is an amazing guy. He does everything from building wood ovens to foraging for mushrooms and wild greens.

Sarah Galvin sells bread at the Swift Current farmers’ market, writes for The Western Producer and is a member of Slow Food Saskatoon. I’m really enjoying her blog, All Our Fingers in the Pie. She profiles a number of Saskatchewan food heroes.

The Berry Barn
I had lunch at The Berry Barn this past week. The flower displays and the views of the river are delightful. And you can’t go wrong if you order a waffle with all the toppings!

Bring Your Own Bottle
SLGA has loosened up their liquor regulations, and restaurants can now offer a bring-your-own-wine service (with a corkage fee). And Chef Simon can now serve wine at his cooking classes.

Flavourful Saskatoon is a weekly Monday feature. I also post regular profiles of culinary entrepreneurs, new restaurants and new food products.

You can follow Wanderlust and Words on Facebook, Twitter, or by email (top right corner).
